Pension Justice at Last?

Commenting on the pension compensation announcement in the Budget, Annette Brooke, Liberal Democrat MP for Mid Dorset and North Poole, said:

"Today's announcement on occupational pension compensation is just more half-measures from a Government which is having to be dragged kicking and screaming towards a fair solution. Meanwhile vulnerable people are being kept in poverty and forced to wait years for compensation.

"Many people who lost their pensions will continue to get a very raw deal from more tinkering with the Financial Assistance Scheme.

"The only way pensions justice will be delivered is if MPs impose a decent package on Ministers.

"When the Pensions Bill returns to the Commons, the Liberal Democrats will ensure that MPs have the opportunity to vote on upgrading the compensation package to Pension Protection Fund levels of award."
