Annette Brooke MP reacts to the commercialisation of childhood

12.00.00am GMT Tue 26th Feb 2008

Annette Brooke MP welcomed today's public opinion poll by The Children's Society as part of its ongoing Good Childhood Inquiry which revealed a consensus among adults that increasing commercialisation is damaging children's well-being.

Annette Brooke MP said:

'This ongoing work is providing important evidence to back up our concerns about the impact of commercialisation. In particular there are so many pointers to the impact on the self-esteem of many of our children - which in turn can lead to many social problems in adolescence and beyond. This sends a clear message to policy makers to change the law.'
